Visit one of Xebia's free Scala Hands-on Labs in december to learn about Scala.
The Java platform is constantly on the move. JDKs are no longer stealing the show, the spotlight is now on the platform itself. The JVM has proven itself, but it seems like Java has not been reaping all the benefits. That is why there is a lot of enthusiasm for new languages that run on the JVM. Scala is one of those newer languages and a very promising one at that. Like Java, it is a statically typed language, but it has the same expressiveness and brevity as dynamic languages. Scala also offers a very powerful combination of object-oriented and functional programming.
During the Hands-on Labs, you can get to know Scala in an informal and relaxed way by doing exercises (labs) that each show a different aspect of the languages. The labs range from the very basic to the reasonably advanced, so there should be something to learn for everybody. There will be enough of our Scala developers present to help you complete the labs and to answer any questions you might have. Of course, they will also immerse you in Scala code and you will find out just how beautiful and powerful the Scala language is.
